Where can coaches park at London Luton Airport?

Vehicles with 20 seats or more should use bay N in the bus bay area located outside the terminal. Vehicles with fewer than 20 seats should use the Drop Off / Pick Up area.
Vehicles will only be allowed into bay N once the relevant flight has landed. While waiting for a flight to land, vehicles with 20 seats or more are advised to park at the Coach Layover Area in the Mid Stay Car Park. Vehicles can park here for up to 24 hours.
All private hire coach drivers require a Pick Up Permit. Permits cost £20 and can be pre-booked in advance or bought on the day.

Is there any help I can get when I travel to the airport?

Most public transport operators have arrangements for passengers who need assistance and information about these services can be found on our public transport pages. 

There are Blue Badge spaces and extra help on hand in our airport car parks if you’re arriving at the airport by car.

When do the shuttle buses run between the terminal and the car hire centre?

Shuttles run between the car hire centre and the terminal building 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  Transfer time is around 10 minutes.

What documentation do you need to rent a car at London Luton Airport?

The documentation you’re required to provide for hiring a car at London Luton Airport is as follows:
  • UK customer: Proof of address is required, valid driving license (DVLA check code may be required), utility bill, bank statement and a debit/credit card in the driver’s name.
  • Overseas Customer: Valid Driving license, passport, credit/debit card in your name, flight details will be required for relevant checks.

What are the age requirements for hiring a rental car at London Luton Airport?

This can vary depending on the operator. For Europe Car you can drive one of our cars from the age of 22, however a Young Drivers Fee will apply per day up to the age of 26. For Enterprise the minimum age to drive a standard car is 25, however you have to be a minimum of 30 years+ to hire a premium car, 4x4 or 7-seater and above. For Avis you can hire a car from the age of 23.

Can I pay by contactless?

Yes, passengers travellers between London and London St Pancras can tap and go with their contactless card (please note, oyster card can not be used).

For the best value journey, we recommend booking your full ticket in advance of travelling.

Can I use my Oyster Card to get to and from LLA?

Sorry, no. Luton Airport Parkway station is outside Transport for London’s Zone 6, and Oyster Cards are currently not valid beyond that point.

How frequently does the DART shuttle run?

The Luton DART is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, running peak, off-peak and super-off-peak hours. The journey takes just 4 minutes from Luton Airport Parkway to the terminal.

·       Peak (04.30* – 09.00 and 16.00 – 18.30) every 5 minutes
*06.30 on Sundays

·       Off-peak (all hours not covered by peak and super off peak): every 8 minutes

·       Super-off-peak (01.00 – 03.30): every 15 minutes

How long does it take to get from London St Pancras to London Luton Airport?

Just 32 minutes.

This includes the journey from St Pancras to Luton Airport Parkway and your connection to the terminal on the Luton DART.

How much does the DART cost?

  • Adult: £4.90
  • Children (5-15 years old): £2.45
  • Children under 5: Free
This would be the cost if you don’t have the Luton DART included in your overall rail journey (e.g. your ticket does not show to/from “Luton Airport”)

Discounted travel is available on the DART for the following passengers
  • Luton Residents (valid with proof of address)
  • Older person’s bus pass
  • Disability badge holders
  • Employees who work at London Luton Airport

What are the opening hours of the Luton Airport Express?

The Luton Airport Express runs every 30 minutes, taking only 32 minutes from London St Pancras to the terminal. Services run early morning until late from Monday to Saturday, with regular services on Sundays.

What happens if my ticket only takes me to Luton Airport Parkway, can I purchase a separate ticket for the Luton DART?

Yes. If you have a rail ticket that only takes you as far as Luton Airport Parkway, you will be able to purchase a journey on the Luton DART only – this can be done online at lutondart.com or via one of the ticketing machines at the Luton DART station.

What happens if the Luton DART can’t operate for any reason?

If the Luton DART can’t operate alternative travel arrangements will be made for you to get from Luton Airport Parkway to the terminal via a bus shuttle. If National Rail services with East Midlands Railway or ThamesLink are not running, the Luton DART will continue to operate as normal.

Where can Mini Buses or Charter Buses pick up from?

Normal Picking Up, Dropping Off and Parking rules apply to Mini Buses and Charter Buses. So the answer is: you can Pick Up at any of our official on-site Car Parks.

How much does the Luton Airport Express cost?

Advance purchase tickets are available from just £10 one way – this includes the cost of your connection to the terminal on the Luton DART once you reach Luton Airport Parkway.

Just make sure you select “Luton Airport” (not Luton Airport Parkway) when booking your ticket to ensure your Luton DART connection is included in the fare.
